An Interview with Matteo Farsura: Insights into VicenzaOro 2024

I had the pleasure of speaking with Matteo Farsura, the new Global Exhibition Manager for Jewelry & Fashion at the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), about what we can expect from this year’s show and beyond.

Q: As the new director of this iconic show, could you briefly introduce yourself and share your vision for the event's future, especially as we celebrate its 70th anniversary?

Matteo Farsura: As the new Director of VicenzaOro, I am honored to lead such an iconic event, especially as we celebrate its 70th anniversary. Since joining IEG in 2017, I have been deeply involved in the Technology section of T.Gold, and I later expanded my role to include VicenzaOro and Oroarezzo shows. Working closely with Marco Carniello, the former Global Exhibition Director, and the dedicated team has been a valuable experience for me. Our vision for VicenzaOro is to continue evolving as the premier global platform for the jewelry industry, fostering innovation and expanding our international presence while celebrating our rich heritage.

Q: What can visitors expect to find at VO this year? Could you highlight some key offerings and opportunities that make this event a must-attend for jewelry professionals worldwide?

Matteo Farsura: This year, we are thrilled to welcome more than 1,200 exhibiting brands, including numerous first-time exhibitors from diverse countries. Our 'Jewelry Boutique Show' embodies the very best the market has to offer, from fine jewelry and gold manufacturing to watches, components, gems, diamonds, and packaging. 'Made in Italy' excellence represents around 60% of the offerings, with exhibitors from all national districts. International participants from 35 countries will also attend, bringing fresh perspectives and innovative designs to the event.

Q: The show features over 1,200 exhibitors with a significant representation of Italian and international brands. How does this diversity contribute to the show’s appeal and the creation of new business opportunities?

Matteo Farsura: The diversity of exhibitors at VicenzaOro is one of the show's greatest strengths. With a rich mix of Italian craftsmanship and international innovation, the event offers a unique platform for exchanging ideas, styles, and business practices. This diversity creates opportunities for new business. Exhibitors and attendees alike can discover emerging trends, forge new partnerships, and expand their networks in ways that might not be possible elsewhere. The blend of different cultures and perspectives makes VicenzaOro a truly global hub for the jewelry industry.

Q: Could you elaborate on this year's seminars, workshops, and networking events? How do these elements enhance the overall experience for attendees?

Matteo Farsura: Our educational sessions will cover various topics, from the latest market trends and consumer behavior to technological innovations and sustainable practices in the industry. Organized with partners such as CIBJO and leading industry players, experts, institutions, and associations, these seminars, workshops, and networking events are designed to offer attendees a comprehensive experience. VicenzaOro is an excellent opportunity for professionals to connect with peers and experts worldwide, thanks to events strategically planned to facilitate meaningful connections and collaborations. Whether inside the venues or in the historical city center, where VIOFF, the off-show program, offers music, art sessions, and more, there is something for everyone.

Q: Can you tell us more about VO'Clock Privé and what makes it a unique addition to the show this year?

Matteo Farsura: VO'Clock Privé, running concurrently with VicenzaOro, is a unique event in Italy dedicated to contemporary watchmaking. Open to the public, and now in its third edition, it offers an immersive experience with a wide range of high-end brands, independent creators, and emerging brands, promoting watch culture. The event includes technical talks, training sessions, and interactive demonstrations, making it a must-attend meeting point for enthusiasts and professionals.

Join Me at VicenzaOro 2024!

I’ve been attending VicenzaOro for many years, and it holds a special place in my heart. In fact, 30 years ago, back in 1994, I visited the show for the first time, sparking my fascination and absolute love for the Italian jewelry industry! I’m excited to be there again for this year's September edition and experience all VicenzaOro offers. Will we meet at VicenzaOro?

Check out the VicenzaOro website for a full schedule of events and plan your visit. Whether you’re looking to network, learn, or be inspired, VicenzaOro 2024 is the place to be. See you there!
