The Xifu International Gold Wedding jewellery Design Competition 2017 is a very prestigious jewelry competition. This biennial competition has the intention to encourage designers to think about the subject of marriage or better the festivity at the very beginning of a marriage: the wedding.
All jewelry designers can participate!
No matter what your background is, or what level of experience you have, everyone who is a jewelry designer can participate in this jewelry competition. The Xifu International Gold Wedding Jewellery Design Competition is organized by both JNA & CJNA of UBM Asia, the World Gold Council and the People's Government of Yantian District, Shenzhen with the support of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Administration of Shenzhen Municipality and the Exclusive Sponsor — Shenzhen Batar Investment Holding Group Limited.
A unique gold jewelry set incorporating traditional Chinese wedding customs
The idea is to create a unique gold jewelry set, incorporating the traditional Chinese wedding custom of extending well wishes to the newlyweds through symbolic jewelry gifts.
In traditional Chinese wedding culture, Shuangxi “囍”, commonly translated as double happiness, is an auspicious sign which symbolizes joy and marriage. Xi-Fu, a registered trademark of the World Gold Council, is a gold jewelry brand specializing in wedding jewelry.
The Theme of the Xifu Jewelry competition
The theme is Oneness. With a focus on crossing both cultural and geographic boundaries to a create a newer and perhaps greater significance for gold wedding jewelry.
Some examples are given, such as marriage as one; two becomes one as one new family is formed. Or the world as one, when cultural heritage, background etc from different parts of the world unite and merge together as one. It can also be taken more literally: jewelry becomes interchangeable and two pieces can complement each other.
How to stand out as a jewelry designer in this competition!
In order to stand out, it is incredibly important to be as innovative as one possibly can. Yet also keep in mind how important it is to tell a story. What is it that you bring from your own background, your own points of view on weddings or marriage and why do you bring it into your design. A beautiful opportunity to tell something also about yourself!
