Organic jewelry: No rules, just go with the flow

One of the things that I adore about jewelry is the fact that it is treasured all over the world, ever since humanity can remember. It has played a big role in many traditions, religions, cultural histories.

Oragnic jewelry flow gold

Darcy Miro bracelets, they look like coral or sponges somehow. Like twigs, necklace by Jacomijn van der Donk,  Cuff bracelets with satin finish by K. Brunini. The Bracelet in the middle is by Kavant Jewelry ( I admit to be very intrigued by it!) it's a slice of quarz adorned with brown and black diamonds. The ring with the four torches is by Felter Gioielli.

Symbolism

The world of jewelry is one full of symbolism and meaning. For weddings, for religion, for showing your position in the world. It’s just a few of the meanings, but behind that we find an entire world of symbolism, related to the gemstones, the pearls, the material of the metals that are used. This is what makes jewelry precious, the symbolism or the moment it is given to you for example, to remember the birth of a child, or just out of plain love or friendship. And the moment you bought your first piece of *real* jewelry just for you!

Organic Jewelry Various brands

Daphne Descents makes jewelry with a very original and organic look and feel. More on her website. I do like how she potraits her jewelry, it gives you a kind of complete experience to see it like this. (three pictures above left en the picture below right) The tree branches necklace in the middle is by Sarah Hood. The fabulous necklace with pendant in the middle is an example of a more *controled organic* look. It has a flow and a organic feel to it, yet it is much more smooth and soft.  The wonderful necklace with pearl is Ploch Pearls

Jewelry with a story

There are people that believe in the healing properties of gemstones. And there are people that are so superstitious that they would never wear a certain color or stone. I am always fascinated to hear the stories of people and love to just observe. I hear them, without judging or without being biased. I am not superstitious myself and very down to earth, I personally am drawn to the idea behind the gift. When my hubby gave me a small silver necklace and told me the story behind it ( it was made to raise money and awareness for a project with children in Africa, something close to my heart) I was moved and I treasure it.

 Organic Jewelry Sandra Muller

All pieces are by Sandra Muller: Above left: *Melting Love* is the name of this pendant. The big stone is a green tzavorite, in the middle in oxidated sterling silver with wood that contains traces of black Australian opal, the a stunning combination of platinum and natural uncut turqiose. The grey stone is moonstone and the setting is in oxi-silver. A baroque pearl ring and her most elobarated piece: the seahorse bracelet.

But I have always adored the stories of people of all parts of the world and how they perceive things, or when they tell me about their culture.

 Sylwia Calus

All pieces are by Sylwia Calus. This designer takes organic to a different level still and puts nature into her resin rings and beads. A very charming effect and something that would not spring to my mind immidiately but that I indeed would wear myself.

What I don't like about *organic* jewelry

So that brought me to this blog about organic jewelry. To be extremely honest with you, it is not my personal favorite. And there is of course, organic and organic...I mean, some jewelry has a stylish but very wearable interpretation of organic. Whilst others go all the way and are made with unusual materials, or with very raw stones. Now all of this can be attractive but also sometimes a bit too much of concept, too artistic where I feel that the creator did not think about basic things like wearability or pleasant to look at.

And that I personally...well, I am not drawn to it.

Organic Jewelry NovaRochel

Organic as interpreted by Nova Rochel. A very charming collection. I love the piece on the left side above! It's a bit like a hidden treasure...

Open Mind

But at the same time, there is a lot of interest in this kind of jewelry. And for a good reason too. I have chosen here today some pieces that are just fantastic. I have pushed my own borders here and there to give you a broader perspective, but also to train myself in keeping an open mind. I like to think I am open minded, but I do catch myself having prejudice here and there. And I also thought about you, my dear reader, who might like to explore and might just adore this kind of jewelry. Rather than all those animal pieces of jewelry or the glitz and glam of some pieces.

 OragnicJewelrynaturalOrnella Ianuzzi1

Ornella Ianuzzi , a jewelry designer that is becoming rapidly more known.  This jewelry is organic with the kind of sculptural look. The stones are allowed to play a leading role and are often incredibly beautiful! Prices range from a moderate £ 110,- up to around  £15.000.

So enjoy and let me if you have a favorite, or know some designer that I never heard of perhaps, but that makes incredible jewelry.

Go with the flow!

Organic jewelry rings Ornella Ianuzzi

Ornella Ianuzzi rings. The more I look at it, the more they grew on me and I thought the ring in the middle was sooo amazingly beautiful that thát one would be the one I would personally choose. But here is what happened: by looking at them for a longer time I ended up falling completely in love with the one on the right below. And this is exactly what I always hope to do with this blog: allow you to look, really take a look at jewelry. You might be surprised in the end, by yourself and how your taste will develop after a while. Hopefully, you feel much more open and curious towards jewelry and the many designs and designers.
